Suji Upma ( Semolina Upma) is a most popular South Indian dish.It is a mild and tasty recipe. It is easy to make, easy to eat, easy to digest, so liked by all age group people. From the nutritious point of view Suji is coarse, purified wheat which is primarily carbohydrate and rich in protein, minerals, vitamins. Suji Ka Upma (Semolina Upma)
A perfect South Indian dish
Suji(Semolina) – 1 ½ bowl
Potato – 2
Carrot – 2
Onion – 2
Green chilli – 1
Tomato – 2
Curry leaves – 10-15
Rai (mustard seeds) – 2 tsp
Chana dal – 1 tsp
Oil – 4-5 tbsp
Red chilli powder – 1 ½ tsp
Haldi (Turmeric powder) – 1 tsp
Salt – 2 tsp( according to taste)
Water – 3 bowl( just double of suji )
Chop all the vegetables. Chop curry leaves. Dry roast suji at low flame in a kadahi till colour changes in light golden. Keep it aside. Boil 3 bowls of water in a bowl. Heat oil in a kadahi, season with curry leaves, rai and chana dal. Put all the chopped vegetables except tomatoes. Add spices. Mix all and cover to cook till tender.now add tomatoes and cook. Add roasted suji in cooked vegetables and boiled water. Mix well and cook till Suji absorbs water. Garnish with coriander leaves. Delicious Suji Upma is ready to serve. Serve hot with tea or any chatni.
1. Seasonal vegetables can be used.
